In the 1860s Charles Peirce started a club called the Metaphysical Club. This is where pragmatism was more or less born. In 1997 a bunch of Finnish postgraduate students started a discussion group for people interested in pragmatism. Following Peirce, they named it Helsinki Metaphysical Club. The Helsinki Metaphysical Club convenes two times a month now and is being sponsored by Helsinki Peirce Research Center.
On February 7th, I will be speaking at the Helsinki Metaphysical Club on the abductive nature of archaeological knowledge. This paper will of course be closely related to the topic of my doctoral thesis which deals with abductive reasoning as the foundation for forming archaeological knowledge.
